Let’s go masculine…

It feels like 2015 just started and here we are the first week of March already!!  As much as I wish time would slow down a bit, I am happy to think that spring should be here soon!

My last few projects have been very feminine so this week I thought it was time to change it up a bit so I created this fun masculine tag…

I started the background by adding dimension and texture using  Ranger’s Texture Paste with a Tim Holtz Stencil.  I’ve used texture paste before but I had recently watched some videos on Ranger’s brand that showed it worked better with the Distress line of products…which we all know is my favorite of faves!

Once the texture paste dried I sprayed the tag with layers of Distress Spray.  I am very impressed how well it took the color!

To add extra dimension to the background I cut the Memory Box Steampunk Corner die from one of Ranger’s Foil Sheets in copper.  Before adhering the die cut to the tag I scuffed it up using my sanding block and added some Black Soot Distress Paint, whipping off the excess, to give it a distressed look.

I am really loving the Tim Holtz Handwritten Love Thinlet die set and wanted to show that it could be used on a project that wasn’t about love or Valentines.

Of course the center piece of this tag is this fabulous vintage image from the Tim Holtz Time Travelers stamp set!   Using Ranger’s Archival Ink in black I stamped the image on a piece of watercolor paper then using my Distress Markers I water colored the image.

A few more bits and pieces and my tag was finished!

Thanks for stopping by today and letting me share with you a little time spent creating!!

Christmas Tag

All through the house the mother’s were a flurry…

baking, wrapping, decorating….

surely it will all be ready….

There’s only a few days left before Christmas, I have a last minute Christmas inspiration for you using Tim Holtz Christmas Blueprint 2 stamps and Tim Holtz Burlap Stencil!

At the Summer CHA show when Tim Holtz released some of his new products, including all the fun Figure Skates there was an amazing skate decoration in his display.  That display, which I wish I had in my house inspired this tag.

I started by coloring my tag with Antique Linen Distress Ink, then I stamped the blueprint stamp with black Archival Ink.

Next I used Frayed Burlap and the Burlap Stencil in random areas on the tag.

On a scrap piece of white cardstock I stamped a second time and cut out just the skate.

I filled the the top of the tag with random bits cut from some Die-Namite dies, finishing it off with a couple mini pinecones & ribbon.

I wonder who will be the special person to get this tag on their gift this year?! :)

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas, full of time with loved ones & good food!!
