Happy and Sweet

I have some more bright goodness for you on the blog today! I hope it hasn’t gotten old yet! Today’s project is a layout of one of my favourite people on earth. Although she lives half way across the world, you don’t have to see this sweet heart often to remember her kindness. She is my Tante Sveta. In the culture I grew up in, people did not have to be your biological relatives to be your uncle and aunt. And since Tante Sveta and her husband were good friends of  my parents they became my Uncle and Aunt.

She’s all the lovely you can imagine and happy all the time.

The bright pink heart paper is from Pink Paislee’s, Oh My Heart line. Who would have thought that I would ever go for hot pink?! I guess anything is possible right?

The letters I used in this little excerpt are from Shimelle’s Little by Little sticker pack, placed on a Becky Higgins, Project Life card. I picked up quite a few of these cards from Love is in the Details and used a handful for the background.

The “so very beautiful” die cut is from Shimelle, as is the tiny turquoise puffy flower sticker. While the Little by Little line is fairly colourful, there are quite a few monochrome pieces in it as well, such as the “&” sign partially tucked under the previously mentioned die cut.

A little something not so overused by this crafter though, are the sewing accents. I’ve been wanting to sew on my projects for quite a while, but I don’t own a sewing machine (quite yet…fingers crossed, soon!) and so it doesn’t happen too often. I love when different fields of art mix though, sewing, paper, mixed media, and so on. What are some of your favourite mediums to create art?

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful week!!!

Lovely Day Layout

Good Morning!

It’s almost March, and that means it’s pretty much spring, right!?

To celebrate the near arrival of warmer weather and brighter colours, let me present to you my recent haul from Love is in the Details. From colourful paper, to loads of stickers and chipboard, to endless embellishments and puffy stickers. Do you blame me for having a hundred project ideas running through my head as I’m trying to focus on making at least this one?

Before I forget, let me mention the Amy Tangerine paper pad. I may be wrong…correct me if I am….BUT from what I could see, every single paper was different! Talk about variety and getting a good bang for your buck!

I opened the two packages of die cut embellishments and laid them out so you can have a better look at what’s inside…absolute adorableness! The top embellishment are from Shimelle’s “Little by Little” line. And the embellishments below are from Dear Lizzy’s “Lovely Day.”

Ok, so here’s a plot twist…I didn’t even start my project using these beauties! You know how when you don’t know where to start and you just pick something to begin your project and then your attention gets drawn elsewhere? Well that’s what happened to me. I didn’t go too far though! I began with the “Lovely Day” chipboard pieces and later used a few die cuts pictured above.

When I picked up this paper from Pink Paislee’s “Oh My Heart,” I wanted to put a sticker into every square (that’d be the child in me, haha). It was very tempting but wasn’t quite what I was looking for. I then decided I’d use a different paper for my background, and cut of some of the squares to use as embellishments.

I tucked some in behind the clear/opaque plastic paper and then a couple more on the other side of the layout. I added the new, exclusive to Love is in the Details, heart chipboard cutouts after painting them white. They are super cute! …whether you leave them the original kraft colour, or paint them any colour you wish! (See the store’s instagram for an up-close blue painted, sparkly and embellished heart!)

Thanks for visiting! Wishing you a great start to your week!
