For the birds….

Good morning friends and Happy Fall!  I’ve got some cards for show and tell today!  It’s been a summer for cards, I gotta tell you, and I’m particularly pleased with these ones.

I got to use the Winter Treats stamp set from Stampendous along with my water color pencils and watercolor pan paints from Prima.  The pictures on the back of the packaging were my jumping off point for colouring since I don’t actually have an Encyclopedic knowledge of birds and their colouration.  And then, because birds need something to sit on when they’re not flying, I loosely painted in a branch and leaves and added some random detail and outlines with a fine tip marker.

I coloured the birds first with the pencils and just used a water brush to meld and blend the colours.  I also painted in a very pale wash for the background just to help the images stand out better.  Then I stamped the sentiments, added some light splattering with very dilute black paint, and finished up with some enamel dots or sequins for embellishment.

This is the cutest stamp set ever! and I love how easy the designs make it to create a very “authentique” artistic piece and makes beautiful Holiday and other occasion cards.  Please don’t be intimidated by the look of these cards, as it’s very easy for anyone to create them.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Please leave us a comment to say hi; we love to hear from you!

Cute old folks….

I have an anniversary coming up soon, and the last time I was in Lori’s store, I brought home with me, one of the cutest stamp sets out there!!  It’s called Forever My Always by Stamping Bella.  I just had to color it and make a card.  For said anniversary.  It’s perfect.  Because me and Mr B look just like these two!

My kids got me a set of 150 PrismaColor pencils for my birthday and they’ve hardly been used this summer so I decided to make them the medium for this stamp.  I’m looking forward to trying this stamp (and a couple of other cute one’s that followed me home) with markers or watercolor.  Stay tuned for that!  I also decided my scissors hadn’t had a workout in a while, so I fussy cut the finished image and popped it up on the front of the card with dimensional adhesive.  The background paper is from the Chickaniddy Crafts 365 Collection pad.  And zip zap zoop, my card was done!

Thanks for stopping by today!
