Happy and Sweet

I have some more bright goodness for you on the blog today! I hope it hasn’t gotten old yet! Today’s project is a layout of one of my favourite people on earth. Although she lives half way across the world, you don’t have to see this sweet heart often to remember her kindness. She is my Tante Sveta. In the culture I grew up in, people did not have to be your biological relatives to be your uncle and aunt. And since Tante Sveta and her husband were good friends of  my parents they became my Uncle and Aunt.

She’s all the lovely you can imagine and happy all the time.

The bright pink heart paper is from Pink Paislee’s, Oh My Heart line. Who would have thought that I would ever go for hot pink?! I guess anything is possible right?

The letters I used in this little excerpt are from Shimelle’s Little by Little sticker pack, placed on a Becky Higgins, Project Life card. I picked up quite a few of these cards from Love is in the Details and used a handful for the background.

The “so very beautiful” die cut is from Shimelle, as is the tiny turquoise puffy flower sticker. While the Little by Little line is fairly colourful, there are quite a few monochrome pieces in it as well, such as the “&” sign partially tucked under the previously mentioned die cut.

A little something not so overused by this crafter though, are the sewing accents. I’ve been wanting to sew on my projects for quite a while, but I don’t own a sewing machine (quite yet…fingers crossed, soon!) and so it doesn’t happen too often. I love when different fields of art mix though, sewing, paper, mixed media, and so on. What are some of your favourite mediums to create art?

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful week!!!

A Work in Progress…

Hola, everyone!

I’m back from Mexico with no sunny projects…yet..but I can’t wait to finish my colourful album from the last post, with our vacation photos!

Today though, I have a different kind of scrapped-up book. I’m thinking it’ll turn into a little cook book with sections for recipes, meal planning, and folders for some coupons and kitchen humour.

I called this post “Work in Progress” as the plan for this little book is pretty big and I can’t wait to get it done and show it to you! For now though, only the ‘Home Full of Joy’ is totally completed.

For this project, I loved using the “Welcome Home” line from Carta Bella. Something I’m learning (took me long enough!) is: buy as much as you can from a line! It makes everything so much easier and is also a lot of fun!

I made a few tags with some funny (maybe lame..) food related sayings, that fit perfectly into the folder above, which is also the first page.

I thought the silly tags might be a cute way to start a recipe book :)

I also love how the chipboard in the “Welcome Home” line, layers perfectly with the die cuts! The clip chipboard piece (below) is actually on top of a slightly smaller clip print on the die cut. It’s so easy to add varying dimensions this way.

Thanks for taking the time to visit! Before you go though, here is a little sneak peek of another part of the recipe book…for next time ;)

Thanks again! Have a great week!
