Lost Journal Continues Part 2

Happy December!!

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say ‘where has 2019 gone’.   Overall the year has been a good one, yes there’s been some minor bumps in the road, but hey that’s what life is all about, and I’ve certainly had worse years.

I just realized that it’s been a month since I blogged…well November was a very very crazy month at work, sadly I had to give that more attention than my art work.  Though I didn’t ignore my art totally….I’ve been playing in my art journal because it’s quick and I don’t stress over the end results.

As we all move into the holidays we are all busy, but I encourage you to take some time to practice your art in whatever form that might be.  I will be taking some time to reflect inward, and think about how I want to move my art forward in the new year!

I have started a little Christmas season project….but you’ll have to wait a bit before I show you that!

Ok I know stop rambling and let’s get on with the show…..

img_2445-900x776Last year Mike and I went on our first no kid vacation since before our third was born.   We spent a few days in Hecla at the resort, it was heavenly!!  When we saw the giant Moose on our drive up we had to stop and take photos…..old family joke behind these.

img_2447-900x767My favorite thing about this journal is how interactive it is with all the pockets and flips.

We went up in early June specifically to avoid the busy season once school was out.  It was very quiet at the resort so our timing was great, even though it was a tad cool…..no swimming at the beach, but the resort had a fantastic hot tub and mineral pool!

img_2452-900x653This lined coffee stained paper gave me all the room I needed to journal some of our memories from our trip!  We even got ‘lost’ trying to find a trail, but we laughed and kept exploring!

The Tim Holtz pocket card gave me another spot to add yet another photo, this is from the viewing tower we eventually found ourselves at.

I had so many photos from this trip that this mini folder I made was the perfect solution to keep everything together and give me the space I needed.

Mike is quite  enjoying flipping through the journal which I’ve dedicated to us and it’s not even done yet!

Thank you for joining me on this journey today!

The Lost Journal Continues….

Did everyone set their clocks back for the last time her in Manitoba?  I’m sure there are a few clocks in my house that still need changing.

Last weekend I was in Winkler for the crop, always an amazing time with delicious food (Lori is a wonderful cook), and such fun friends!

Aside from shopping, eating and laughing I did focus on starting to fill my journal with photos….and yes journalling.  The last part has never been my favourite part of this craft, many of my scrapbook pages don’t have it.  But I’m trying to work past that and force myself to journal more.  I’m not getting any younger, and while my memory is still good I know that it won’t be forever.

I have decided to dedicate this journal to record the walks my husband Mike and I go on.  We love being in nature hiking and exploring different trails.  This is something we didn’t have a lot of time to do while the kids were little, but we are making more time for us now that they’re older.

I found this scrap of Bo Bunny paper in my stash, geez it’s been there forever it seems, but I thought it was kinda perfect for this page!

On the back of the ‘tag’ I journaled about this walk we took in Assiniboine Forest.  Even though this forest is just minutes away from our house, Mike had never been, and I hadn’t visited since I was in grade school.  We certainly made the most of the afternoon, and the beautiful fall weather!

As we explore one of the many trails in the forest we could see through the trees into the distance there was something hiding.  We did a little off road trek and were surprised to find this old truck!  As you can see it’s been there for many many years with the style of the truck and the tree growing out the back end.

As we carried on we speculated how it got there :) enjoying our discovery!!

I used some of the new Simple Stories Foliage Bits and Pieces from the new Autumn Splendor line.  If you haven’t seen it, you might want to hurry I don’t know that Lori has much left.  I also used an old postage stamp….love how it looks!

As you can see the forest offered us many different paths….the ones that aren’t paved are by far our favourite to explore!

More of the Simple Stories Foliage pieces, an old Tim Holtz tag and Maya Road pocket were used to adorn this page.  I love combining both and and new supplies into my work!

On the little tag that came with the Maya Road pocket I used this old Tim Holtz tree stamp….so perfect for my fall photos!

On the reverse I added more journaling!

When I showed Mike the progress I’ve made so far in this book he loved all the hidden journal spots, the flipped pages etc.  I think he loved it more that I’ve dedicated this book to us. :)

Thank you for letting me share these pages with you, there is much more to come so I hope you’ll stick with me through this journey!!
