Sentiment stickers….

Hello friends.

I’m back today with a whack of cards to share.  A while back I got a Jen Hadfield sticker pack from Love is in the Details that was 6 pages of sentiment stickers for making cards.  Sentiments like, Thank you, Hello, Congrats, Celebrate, Thinking of You and Happy Birthday.  All the most common ones we need right?  I figured they would help me make short work of creating a bunch of cards in very little time.

Because of the color theme of the sticker pack, I decided that kraft cardstock would go with all of them, so that was the base from which each card was built.  Either the card base, the card panel and/or some embellishments would be kraft.  Then I pulled out my container of leftover bits and pieces of unused embellishments or die cuts or other shapes that had no other place to call home.  I also decided that my embossing folders had been neglected so I pulled out a few of those.  Beyond that, there are no special techniques I used, just piled on some of this, and combined it with some of that and finished up with 8 cards.  You only see 7 here because I made two of the white star embossed card for friends who are graduating this year.  I’ll just post each of the cards here for you to see and hopefully use for some inspiration for your own card making.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

A Father post on Father’s Day….

Happy Father’s Day!  If you have a Dad you can hang a hug on, please do so.  If, like me, you don’t, I hope you’ll enjoy a happy memory from when he was still with you.

Today I want to share a layout that has been a long time coming!  It’s the first scrapbooking I’ve done of my grandson!  How can I have waited 3+ months to start you ask?  Well, in a nutshell, it’s because he’s so perfect that I wouldn’t want to create anything that doesn’t do him justice.  But as I got thinking about making something to tie in with Father’s Day….and I thought about this photo that I love so much, I just had to dive in!  My son.  Has become a Father!!  What a crazy, wonderful, amazing, unbelievable thing!!?  I particularly love how the “someone special” is part of the quote and refers to my son, but also, at a quick glance references this precious new baby.

Let me show you some of the progress of this layout.  I began with a piece of plain grid patterned paper from the Kaisercraft Barbershop collection.  I stamped on it with a variety of background stamps and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder for a very subtle, sheen/matte texture.  Then I stamped some more over top and around the clear stamps, with a very pale grey ink.  And following that, I stamped a variety of leaf stamps with two different shades of green ink, stamping off the first impression on scrap paper, before stamping the 2nd and 3rd impressions on the page.  Lastly, I added some paint splats to finish the background before continuing with layering the photos and embellishments.

I wanted a piece of sheer vellum paper to be one of the mat papers behind the photo.  But I wanted it to have some interest too, so I stamped it with a background stamp with this wonderful “you matter” message.  This is the second iteration.  The first one also incorporated more leaves, but when I realized it wouldn’t even be seen behind the photo I set it aside for some other project where it will be seen, and made another mat with only the word stamp.

This title though.  I’m very pleased with how it turned out!  It looks like a white plastic commercially produced piece, doesn’t it?  In fact, it’s 4 layers of card stock, designed and cut on my Silhouette Cameo and glued together.  Can I just say here, hip hip hooray for a brand new Silhouette blade!!

This quote.  I know it’s maybe a bit over-used.  But today it just feels fresh again, and says all the things my heart feels.

One last detail I want to share…I’m allll about the vellum these days!  So I stamped some more images on vellum and heated them with white embossing powder and fussy cut them for embellishments.  This page got the spray of leaves and berries on the bottom right of the photo.  (Spoiler alert: this technique may be coming to an embellishment class near you sometime this summer!)

Now that the grand baby scrapbooking gates have been opened, the horses are out, so I hope you’re prepared for an inundation of sweet baby pages in the future!

Have a wonderful Father’s Day!
