Mamas don’t let your babies grow up…

Hi friends!  Norine here, back with another Traveler’s Notebook layout.

Do you remember when I talked about re-making these Dylusions Traveler’s Notebooks here?  Well, those books are now in the store and just waiting for you to snap them up!

I have the same three notebooks and that has allowed me to take each one apart and to mix up the lined, dotted and graph paper patterns in each book.  Originally they come with one pattern in each book but I like a variety.  Click on thet link above to see exactly how I did that.

Let me tell you, when I’m putting one of these smaller sized layouts together, the old excitement of recording a thought/idea/feeling/memory in a beautiful and engaging way just rises up and I just want to sit there at the table and make page, after page, after page!  I can’t….I have too many other things I need to do….but I want to.

This layout today was inspired by the pair of hummingbirds that returned this spring to build another nest in the tree just outside our backdoor.  They are so fun to watch and attribute human understanding and emotions to!

For the title I pulled out my Tim Holtz Ideology foam letter stamps and stamped with ink.  I wanted a mottled, uneven look to the inked letters so I stamped them off once unevenly onto scrap paper and then stamped them fully onto the notebook page.  Then I  added the “grow” sticker from the Simple Stories Bloom & Grow sticker pack, and the mini-alphabet stickers from the Pink Fresh Boy’s Fort line.  The phrase stickers and wooden circle embellishment are also Pink Fresh Boy’s Fort product, a very versatile line, as you can see.

The leaf on the left side page is a Silhouette cut file, but the heart on the right side page is from a sheet of punch out die cuts.  I added the wooden rimmed #2 button from the same Boy’s Fort line as other product on the page.  Some enamel dots and a heart (Illustrated Faith) and a couple of strips of washi tape complete this layout.

Stop into the store or give Lori a call if there’s anything you’ve see here that you really must have!

Lucky us….

Hiyeee!! 7 days, no see!! Lol. I missed you! Did you miss me? Never mind, don’t answer that.

So today, I have a layout to share with you. Do you know, I was checking this last night, and I realized that the ONLY layouts I’ve made in the last year have been the ones I’ve made for a blog post here. That makes me so sad. I still have millions of photos and double that of paper and embellishments. It’s just TIME I don’t have. And I love stamping and card making so much it tends to gobble up any creative time I do have.

Anyway. A layout. I printed a bunch of b&w photos for our family reunion this summer and this one just kept floating to the top of the pile after I cleaned up. It’s my mom and her sister taken back in the 50’s. Aren’t they so cute??

Lori knows that I’m not a real “theme paper” girl. I just don’t like to be dictated to like that. I much prefer really generic, indistinct patterns for background paper, but this Fabulous line by Authentique was impossible to deny. Those cat’s eye glasses! The 50’s motifs! And there’s one GORgeous piece of paper in the pack with roses and leaves that I’m hoarding for just a little while longer.

Also, check out that watercolor painted rose! I made that!! I recently attended my second Pinner’s Conference - two days of all kinds of classes for things you might pin on Pinterest.  Making perfect pie crust.  Painting a wooden barn quilt.  Learning to braid hair.  Calligraphy lettering.  And so on.  One of the classes I attended was painted watercolor roses and this one came from my practice sheet!

I haven’t attempted them again….I’m pretty sure that was the best water color painting day I’ll ever have in my life!

The vellum leaves are from Prima, the enamel hearts are Illustrated Faith by Bella Blvd, the pink gingham heart and “classy” stickers are from the same Fabulous paper pack as the patterned papers I’ve used here, and the puffy floral stickers are from Pink Paislee (Oh My Heart) and Pebbles.  The two green card stock leaves are ones I cut out with the Silhouette.  And the black foam title words are Thickers by Amy Tangerine.
