Beginner Cardmaking

On Tuesday, I will be teaching some “newbie” cardmakers.  I’m pretty excited about it, but I am also a little worried.  I had a really tough time trying to figure out what cards to create for them.  I don’t want to overwhelm them, but I don’t want them to be too easy.

They wanted some “spring like” cards, so I hope that I have come close to what they would like.  Here goes …

Matting, some foam tape, and some stickles … cute, simple enough, but still a couple things to learn.

Simple layering/piecing, baker’s twine, and a handmade envelope.

This card requires layering from behind, and then we will stamp a sentiment on the inside.

Washi tape and peel offs, simple, but cute.

So, what do you think, enough little techniques and cuteness for a beginner class?

You Are My Sunshine

Good morning! Brooke here with you today!

I have a quick blog post showing the NEW class I will be teaching at Love is in the Details!

I was working on a little somethin’ somethin’ at the store yesterday during the Minc demo. (Thanks for a great demo day, Norine!)

First things first…

Vintage buttons, NUVO, and song lyrics? Come on.

(Succulents not included.)

Fun fact, I propagated the succulent in the yellow jar from the leaf of one of my other plants. Propagation is actually so easy and you should really try it. If anyone needs succulent leaves to propagate you just let me know because I have a million to share.

I’m not quite sure why the lighting in the closeup picture got all wonky, but I was trying to show the dimension of the NUVO drops we will be using. Rain drops. With NUVO. Right?! And the border strips are the lyrics to…you guessed it…”you are my sunshine” typed on a typewriter.

The canvas was inspired by this card that I made for National Cardmaking Day:

I think the canvas would make such an adorable home decor piece or gift. Wait, who am I kidding? I would totally keep it for myself! It’s just too cute.

Speaking of cute…how sweet are my “photography assistants”?

(Cats are also not included in the canvas class. Disappointing, I know!)

Edith and Minerva love crafts more than anyone.

More details coming soon regarding this 8×10 canvas class! Stay tuned.

Have a lovely week, everyone!
