look again at your supplies

I love to look at the scrapbooking supplies I already have and use them in a slightly different way.  I actually like to do that with many things besides scrapbook supplies too actually.  I had my Tim Holtz stencils out and I was thinking about the sun burst one and if I could turn it into a rainbow to co ordinate with my Granddaughter’s dress in her Easter photo…. sure enough, it can be done!  I used painters tape across the part of the stencil that I didn’t want to use to block the areas. (you can use regular tape just make sure to stick it to your clothes a few times first to decrease the stickiness, that way it won’t ruin your layout when you take it off)  I used distress ink in the colours of the rainbow.

When I was happy with the rainbow, I added lots of die cuts and used them as a frame and accents for the photo as opposed to a card base as the large frame is intended to be used as. (I believe all of the dies are from Spellbinders that I used and the title was cut with the Silhouette)   The thread I used was from my Mom’s sewing kit from many years ago and the buttons are antique as well.

I like the final layout very much.  I can’t believe how different that stencil looks just by colouring each ray a different colour.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

It’s Valentine’s Day, one of my most favorite days of the year ….. do you have anything planned?
Showing the love on Valentines Day doesn’t have to be exclusive to your honey. Why not spread it around to everyone (well almost everyone) who you come in contact with ….. just let your love flow, do some RAKS (Random Acts of Kindness) today and just see how great it makes you feel. Making someone smile, cheering someone up, making their day can be so rewarding. If you need some ideas, please click here.

Please play the video as you read the rest of the blog today …..

I am envisioning all of you listening to this, bopping in your chairs, getting your groove on - getting ready for your best Valentine’s Day ever. *smile*

Let me tell you this, Lisa, she has her love groove on and her love is flowing fast and steady this February! Just take a look at what she made now.

Quoting Lisa ~~ “I found this great paper mache heart wall hanging at Micheals. I didn’t want the kraft color of the heart to show through so I started by covering the heart with a coat of Claudine Hellmuth gesso. Then I layered it with torn pieces of Tim Holtz’s Tissue Wrap, using the Claudine Hellmuth multi medium to glue it down. Once I had the entire heart covered I gave it a little white wash with the gesso and some water to tone down the text on the tissue a bit.

After all those layers were dry it was a bit too white for me so I painted on a layter of Tattered Angels glimmer mist, then randomly stamped it with a background stamp using Frayed Burlap & Brushed Cordoroy Distress Ink. I added some random sprays of Ranger’s Perfect Pearls mist to give it a little extra shine.”

Quoting Lisa ~~ “Once I had the background the way I liked it I decorated it up, using random items I found in my stash. I can’t remember where I got the word ‘Love’ it’s been waiting for just the right project.”

The tag with the cupids on it is from Tim Holtz’s seasonal paper pack, the flowers are from Prima and the bling is from ZVA.

Have a super happy Valentine’s Day!
