“Songs of Spring” - Reveal Day

Looking out my window this morning - “Songs of Spring” - the name of our April kit - couldn’t be a more perfect match.  It’s a beautiful day, and I have the window just slightly open - and yes, you can hear the birds chirping and singing - what a wonderful sound.  For me, it seems like winter was never ending, and an early spring is very welcomed.

Today the Creative Team has opened their reveal of the kit - you can see it all right here.  It is a bittersweet reveal day for all of us at LIITD.  “Songs of Spring” is another fabulous kit designed by Melanie Blackburn - but, Melanie is not a part of the reveal of this kit designs.  Recently, Melanie applied and won a spot on the Jillibean Soup Design Team - this being one of Melanie’s dreams - you all know how she absolutely LOVES Jillibean Soup and all of their products.  However, being a Mom, a wife, working full time, other family responsibilities, etc. - you know how busy life can be - has put Melanie in a position she was having difficulty with.  “How can I get it all done?”…..  Melanie has taken some time over the past few weeks to think and come up with the best solution for her and everyone in her life.  After much hard thought, and with a heavy heart, Melanie has decided to take a six month leave of absence from LIITD.  Melanie isn’t leaving LIITD, she will still pop in and chat, she will upload her fabulous work, and when time permits, she will still come work with the Creative Team.  So, it is a bittersweet day - but it’s a good day - Melanie can share her news with everyone, enjoy her DT spot at JBS and feel comfortable coming to LIITD without obligations right now.  Melanie, you ROCK, your kit designs have been fabulous - your work is amazing - and for now, please enjoy the DT spot at JBS - you deserve it, you’ve earned it, and we will look forward to chatting with you over the next months.

With that being said ….. “Songs of Spring” is available for purchase right here - we have just a few kits left.

Chelsea, Amber, Melissa, Lisa and Cindy ….. have a ROCKIN’ reveal up for you to all see - you are going to love it all.  I just have to show you something from each one of them.  AWESOME!

Chelsea Miller - Not long and we will all get to meet her new little one.

Fancy Pants!!!

Jared from “Fancy Pants Designs”

While taking Jared’s (Jodi’s) class, instead of giving us step by step instructions (no need for that as his wife - Jodi - had very carefully printed out full written instructions along with photos), he told us the story of “Fancy Pants” ….. how it started, how it has grown, and little things about his family along the way.  Very cool to hear all of this.

It was awesome to hear that “About a Girl” was made to copy “About a Boy” from 2008.  I remember About a Boy - it was featured in our Love is in the Details May 2008 monthly kit.

I LOVE that the awesome people at Fancy Pants have listened to our requests.  The journal books now have one page of each design instead of two - much more cost efficient.  Also, the glitter cuts - now available all on one sheet - AWESOME stuff.

Fancy Pants has arrived to Love is in the Details - My Family, Rusted Sun, About a Girl, and Roadshow - along with a few other cool new Artist Edition items.  Check out the “Fancy Pants Blog” for some fantastic ideas using the new Fancy Pants lines.

I love mini albums, and I couldn’t wait to try out the new Artist Edition Multi Media album.  Below is what I have done with it - but, I have kept out a felt sheet and a chipboard sheet - as I have different plans for them.  I loved working with this album - the size and all the different textures - so cool.  Look at how many pages this made and I still have the two full pages I haven’t used yet.  Also, I only used one ring - but the kit comes with 3 - so I have to 2 spare rings to use on another project.

Printed acrylic sheet - I used for the cover.

Cover - I used the printed acrylic sheet.

Back of acrylic sheet - page 2.

Page 5 - Canvas sheet - I *smooched* it with "Cherry Ice" Smooch Spritz.

Page 6 - I had this Prima canvas around for a long time and thought I would add to the album for extra texture.

Page 7 - LOVE the corrugated cardboard.

Page 8 - Back of corrugated cardboard page - I did not add anything to the cardboard as I love the "raw" look of it.

Page 9 - The one brown felt page I used - it's awesome - nice and thick - I have one brown felt page set aside to use for something else.

Page 10 - back of brown felt sheet - I used regular tombow tape runner and glue dots to stick - and they both worked perfectly.

Back cover -I had so much fun with the Tim Holtz hammer and the Smooch Spritz that I repeated the effect for the back page.

Jared and Jodi - Fancy pants ROCKS, and I am so glad you followed your dream and built such an amazing successful business filled with products that we all love.  Kudos to you on your success!

The weekend is here, what are your plans for the weekend?  I am hoping that the weather warms up and I can get outside for some of it - the yard needs some work.  Also hoping to get in a little scrapping time.  How about you?
