It’s Frosty Out There!

I don’t know about where you are but it is FREEZING here! Perfect weather though to lock myself in my craft space and have some fun!

If you haven’t heard the Online Store is back up with lots loaded already!!!

Also Lori has this adorable Snowman Kit available for pre-order, it’s custom designed and cut just for Love Is In The Details!

You can order it HERE.

Earlier this week a pizza box full of fun new goodies was waiting for me when I got home, including one of the Snowman kits!

It comes with all the MDF and papers you need to put it together…

Of course you could try something a little more adventurous, just set those papers  aside (don’t toss them though they can be used on another project).

As always I was up for more of a challenge, and wanted to make him unique so I pulled out lots of fun supplies and grunged him up!

I covered his body with Finnabair Platinum Crackle Paste, once it was dry I sprayed Walnut Distress Spray over top to get in all those little cracks and age him a bit more.

I ran the paper that came for the hat through my Bigshot using a gear embossing folder.  Then I rubbed different colours of Finnabair wax to bring out the texture!

The arms and scarf were covered in Distress Embossing powder…I LOVE the texture that embossing powder gives, and so sad you can’t buy it anymore.

I added a bunch of gears, using some of the custom LIITD laser cut chipboard and Tim Holtz gears.  Even used them for his eyes!

He was so fun to make, taking this great kit and making it my own!

Lori has re-opened this kit so hurry and order yours before they are all gone!

Beautiful Friend

Happy 2019!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and are slowly getting back to a regular schedule.

After Christmas I took a couple days off work, it was a much needed break that I fully enjoyed with lots of time in my craft space!

During my break I decided to make a gift for one of my best and most beautiful friends!  Not only is she beautiful outside but she has one of the most beautiful hearts I have seen.   Yup love this girl!

I wanted to give her something to display in her home, which she previously owned with her sister who moved into a new home with her husband.  I also wanted her to have a reminder how beautiful she is!  We all could use that right!

Of course the gift had to be a surprise, so I ‘borrowed’ a photo from her Facebook page…sneaky right! LOL  I knew she wouldn’t mind, and she did give me permission to share what I made here for all of you to enjoy.

When designing this I knew I needed to work with colours that would match her house, and use a colour she loves.

The base is a Tim Holtz Etcetra Tag, I think it’s the small size.  I started by covering the tag with some sticky back canvas, then added some texture past using Tim Holtz stencils.

I slowly built up layers using these cute paper straws, and a variety of embellishments.  Once the embellishments were all glued in place everything got a coat of white gesso.

I used Dylusions spray in purple and pink to add colour while keeping some white space too.  The white space helps draw the eyes to the focal point, which is of course my friend!

For extra texture and layers I added some random stamping using grey Archival Ink. The wood word Beauty was finished off with old siver embossing powder.

It was fun using colours I don’t normally gravitate to, but also a bit of a challenge for me.

My friend was surprised when she opened her gift and loved it!!

Thank you for joining me today for the first post of 2019, I can’t wait to share a year of inspiration & projects with you!!
