Carta Bella Flora….

Posted by Norine on April 5, 2017

Hello friends, I’ve got something particularly lovely to share with you today!  If it’s not already too late, you must RUN to the shop and buy the Carta Bella Flora line!  I bought the ephemera package and both the small 6×6 pad and the full size paper pack.  If all you can get your hands on is the full size paper pack you’ve got an instant card kit!  Within the collection of papers are 3 (THREE) sheets of 9 mini-cards for cutting small - good for project lifers or card makers.  Here are the 6 I quickly assembled one afternoon, and there is oodles more left over for at least a dozen more cards besides some beautiful scrapbooking product!  And here’s something goofy…in the cleaning up of the mess I’d made, I discovered the 12″x12″ sheet of stickers and alphas!

For this card, I cut the swoopy angle with scissors then went back and trimmed the edge with a pair of scalloped edged scissors.  Remember those fancy edged scissors we all used to have?  These are one of the few I actually kept.

And finally, besides telling you how lovely and versatile the Flora line is, I thought I’d show you a fun technique as well!  This card below was just crying out for a message on that triple banner.

So I found a sentiment stamp that ran in a long line….

…and did some stamp surgery.

Far from limiting the use of this stamp, cutting them apart like this, allows you to use them in a vertical fashion as well as horizontal.  And their original use is not impeded because they can still be lined up on an acrylic stamp block or stamping tool such as the Misti or the Precision Press, as perfectly as if they were still whole!

As well, I fussy cut a bit of the floral design from one of the 6″x6″ papers, adhered it and then coated the surface with glossy accents to create a clear enamel-like finish.  You can see a bit of the shine in the photo below.

So by adding some machine stitching, some Nuvo Drops for accents, some washi tape and gold thread, as well as stamped or die cut sentiments, I was able to create these 6 cards in a matter of hours.  This is a gorgeous line and a kit I return to again and again!

Have a great day!

Love these! Flora was a line I didn’t pay much attention to but now I see how beautiful it is.

I love the cards.  I would like to make them.  Where did you get the words “love doesn’t …” and believe and love you.?

Thank you Brooke and Brenda!  Brenda, you can make these cards just from the papers that are included in the paper packs!  There are three different sheets of squares that can be cut up for card and have the sentiments printed on them already.  The “love you” sentiments are the only ones I added, and they are dies that I have.  The “believe” and “life doesn’t have to be…” sentiments are already printed on the cards.  And so many other beautiful ones besides!

Great cards Norine, I love how you cut up the stamp and used it to fit on the cards.  Looks like that is the perfect line to make alot of great cards !
