Crate Paper Snow & Cocoa

Hey there!

Brooke here today…sharing what I’ve been working on over Christmas.

I had plenty of crafting time over Christmas as we just had a quiet, lazy holiday at home + a brutal snowstorm. When you’re snowed in (literally!) why not make stuff?

Please excuse the over-exposure of the pictures; I was snowed in after all.

First, I whipped up a little bit of packaging using the Crate Paper winter line, Snow & Cocoa. Crate Paper, pastels, AND gold glitter? Sold.

I made coordinating packages complete with gold paint - stamped tissue paper. I tried to keep it simple and go with layering rather than techniques so it would come together quickly.

Oh, and the white polka dots are made with Tim Holtz distress paint. I LOVE that the little dabbers make great polka dots with no mess.

I also made a quick card to coordinate with the packages:

Once I finished the packaging I was in the mood to scrapbook. Do you ever just get that urge to make stuff? A creative burst? When you get into a groove and you just know you need to create SOMETHING?

Me too.

Since I was snowed in and had a bunch of time on my hands, I decided to finally get my antique sewing machine working. I picked it up off VarageSale a few months back for $30 (a steal!) and finally got it going. Runs like a dream. And boy have I missed sewing on my scrapbook pages.

I’ve started to scrapbook our wedding photos and can I just say that I really enjoy having an event to scrapbook? Those 200 photos are just begging to be documented.

How cute is that acetate deer!? I mean, that little face…come on.

I finished off the page by adding phrase strips with an excerpt from my wedding vows typed on them.

For the next layout I really wanted to use my sewing machine as much as possible so figured I would use a grid. Can’t go wrong with a grid.

I kept the page neutral with white space, vellum, and white foam Thickers.

I punched the circles with my 2 inch I think?? circle punch, splattered them with a bit of spray mist, and sewed them in that grid shape. Super quick with big impact.

The little house, mason jar snowglobe, and snowman are all fussy cut from a sheet in the 6×6 paper pad.

Some wood veneer & jewels completed the embellishment.

I’m really pleased with how these turned out and I love that I can use a themed line like this to document “unrelated” pictures. Maybe I need to try this with my Christmas lines.

Thanks for joining me today!

And Happy Holidays + whatever you like to celebrate!
