The blog post title is the hardest part….

So I’ma skip it and get right to the post!  Today I have two things to show you!

The first is the result of an experiment I tried, to see how well the 1st 3 releases of Tim Holtz’s new colors-of-the-month played together.  They are, January - Cracked Pistachio, February -  Abandoned Coral and March - Mermaid Lagoon.  I used my ink pads to smoosh color patches on my craft mat, and then with a wet brush, picked up each color and put it down on watercolor paper letting the colors blend.  Somewhat.

What I learned.  Red and blue mixed together, creates a poopy brown.  But green and blue mixes very nicely, and when butted up against the red puddle so there isn’t too much blending, everyone is happy.  Here is the card I made using that piece of watercolored paper.

distressinks1All of these colors are in the store, and available in distress ink, distress marker, distress paint, distress stain and spray stain.

Next, I wanted to try my new Poppystamps Teacup Stack die, and the My Mind’s Eye On Trend paper pad.  I cut the die from gold foil paper, because gold, right??  Then I adhered it to Neenah Solar White card stock because I wanted to use Copic markers to color the punched out bits.

How did I know these were the colors I wanted to use?  Well, Pinterest.

I actually have a pin board for nothing but color schemes and does it ever do the brain work for you!  Like today.

Feel free to follow it if you like; I’m adding to it often!

So then I adhered the colored stack to the gold dot paper and glued all that to an orange card base.

So there you go, two completely different looks and cards.  I hope one or the other will inspire something for you, even if it’s just to go make a pot of tea and drink it out of a pretty china cup!

Awesome cards Norine! I love the watered colours using the new TH distressed inks. And that gold dots paper, I sure hope I have ordered it. I love it! I figured that’s why you were pinning colour swatches. Good idea!
