Cute as a button!

I love when a supply that wasn’t originally meant for scrapbooking or paper crafting translates in a way that works for either of those purposes as well as these buttons did!  As soon as I saw them in Lori’s store I knew what I wanted to use them for….making baby cards!!  I never seem to have baby cards in my stash, so it feels pretty great to have 3 done and waiting!

This first card was kept quick and simple.  I cut the mat in a postage stamp shape on my Silhouette Cameo, stamped coordinated papers, twine and the cute little lion button shape.

For this card I combined some chipboard stars and typed the sentiment on my Grandpa’s old typewriter. Love that little giraffe with his patiently tilted head…!

This card was the MOST fun.  I cut the three openings with a die from PapertreyInc and backed each opening with a coordinating patterned paper.  The woodgrain paper is pop-dotted and in all cases I cut the shank off the back of the button with my craft scissors, so they would lay flatter.  I stamped the sentiment on vellum with white embossing powder and folded the vellum strip underneath.

babycard1 The buttons are Baby Safari from Dress It Up and for $2.79 for 5 buttons, I think that makes a pretty cute yet economical embellishment for cards!
