Box of chocolates?

Happy Wednesday, Lisa here with another creative project for you.

Today is a big day here in Winnipeg, the very first IKEA store is opening, so many are excited and I’m sure it’s going to be a mad house.  I think I’ll stay home and scrap instead! ;)

Over the weekend I was doing one of those not so loved but totally necessary jobs….cleaning my crafty space, yeah I know you all feel my pain!  But something good (aside from a clean space) did come out of it, I stumbled across an After Eight box from last season that I saved so I could get a little crafty and turn it into a pretty gift box!

This is what the box looked like before…..

I added some Kraft Cardstock, then layered a piece of White Smoothies Cardstockwhich I had stamped & glittered using Ranger’s Sticky Embossing Powder & Glitter Ritz.  My stamp didn’t cover the full width of my cardstock so I added a little embossing detail using a Cuttlebug embossing strip, and finished it off with a strip of pattern paper.

Then I embellished it up with a couple of Tim Holtz Sizzix dies.  The Tattered Poinsettia was made with White Vellum (see there are still uses for vellum), which I embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot folder for added dimension, and added a little Gold Embossing Powder to the edges.

Look at it now, you’d never know it was a repurposed After Eight chocolate box!!

Now that the box is all decked out for the holidays it’s just waiting for me to fill it with some goodies for a special someone!!

Just remember before you throw something out to take a good look at it and think…….can I reuse this and make it beautiful?!

Have a great day, and for any of you Winnipegers brave enough to head to IKEA good luck!
